Jon-Carlo Canezo

Jon-Carlo has been the head coach at St. John's School and a consultant for the Houston Urban Debate League for the past 3 years, privately coaching for the past 10 years, and did LD Debate back in the stone age. In those past three years, he's coached NSDA National Winners and qualified numerous students to the TOC. This is his first year teaching camps and he's looking forward to it!

 

Rubick Hernandez

Rubick Hernandez competed for four years at Alief Elsik High School in Worlds School Debate. Qualified 4 times to Nationals and Texas Forensic Association State tournament in WSD throughout high school. She was also a Houston Urban Debate League/CASE debater where she placed first at City Champs in WSD. She believes every student deserves an opportunity to participate in Speech and Debate and is excited to work with everyone at TDC!

 

Javier Lopez

I began doing Cross-Examination Debate in a small 2A school in Houston. Through-out my four years as a Houston Urban Debate League competitor I tried out different formats growing with every loss, but deciding on some of the more kritikal arguments my senior year. I continued my career doing Policy Debate in college at the University of North Texas. After graduating with my BA in Political Science, I moved backed to Houston and began working with the Harris County Department of Education in its efforts to expand and create new speech & debate programs in my hometown. This is my first year working at TDC but I am looking forward to it!

 

Andy Stubbs

Andy Stubbs works as a content specialist for the Houston Urban Debate League, writing curriculum and doing site visits for policy and Worlds. He also works as a Worlds and PF consultant around Houston and in the past has volunteered at the Harris County branch of the Rikers Debate Project, an organization dedicated to teaching debate to students incarcerated in Harris County Jail.
